Disease description:

Recently, I noticed numerous red, small granules on my genital area, which cause noticeable pain upon touch. My doctor mentioned that this may be the latent phase of genital warts. Could you please tell me: How long is the incubation period for genital warts?

Genital warts, a common sexually transmitted infection (STI), are primarily caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection transmitted through sexual contact. Compared with other STIs, genital warts have a relatively long incubation period—typically 1 to 8 months, with an average of approximately 3 months. Clinical studies indicate that the incubation period tends to be shorter in women than in men.
