Scalp folliculitis can be treated with both topical and oral medications as prescribed by a physician—for example, Bactroban ointment and roxithromycin capsules. For refractory cases, immunomodulatory agents such as transfer factor oral solution may be used. Patients with scalp folliculitis should maintain good scalp hygiene: wash hair regularly and avoid frequent touching of the scalp with hands to prevent exacerbation of local infection.
