How to Treat Heat Rash in Children
Disease description:
My child’s skin has become red, and he frequently complains of itching and a stinging sensation—this appears to be heat rash. How is heat rash treated in children?
Prickly heat (miliaria) in children can be treated with calamine powder or talcum powder. If calamine powder proves insufficiently effective, topical medications—such as menthol or calamine lotion—may be used adjunctively for their heat-clearing and antipruritic effects. Ensure the child bathes regularly and changes clothes frequently; opt for lightweight, breathable clothing. Keep the child in a cool environment whenever possible, and avoid feeding them spicy, stimulating, or “heat-inducing” foods.
