Disease description:

Most people wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants when going outdoors in summer or autumn to prevent mosquito bites. However, certain areas—such as the ears and face—are often overlooked in bite prevention. So, what causes redness, swelling, and warmth in the ear after a mosquito bite?

Redness, swelling, and warmth of the ear following a mosquito bite may result from the mosquito’s saliva entering the ear through the bite site, triggering a localized insect bite reaction. In such cases, it is recommended to first irrigate the ear with normal saline, followed by topical application of an antibiotic ointment. If symptoms persist or worsen, prompt consultation with a dermatologist is advised, and patients should actively cooperate with the physician’s treatment plan.
