What causes intermittent sharp pain from the lower abdomen to the anus?
Disease description:
My mother has been feeling unwell recently, experiencing intermittent sharp pain extending from the lower abdomen to the anus, which is causing me great concern. Could you please explain what might be causing this intermittent sharp pain from the lower abdomen to the anus?
Intermittent sharp pain from the lower abdomen to the anus is likely caused by proctitis. The rectum connects directly to the anus; bacterial invasion or ingestion of unhygienic food can trigger intestinal inflammation. Inflammatory stimulation of the rectal mucosa leads to spasm of the surrounding rectal tissues, resulting in intermittent sharp pain. Currently, for lower abdominal and anal pain caused by proctitis, oral anti-inflammatory and antibiotic medications are recommended for treatment.
