When bitten by a leech, the first step is to detach the leech from the wound. This can be achieved by applying concentrated saline solution, kerosene, vinegar, or similar substances directly onto the skin to encourage the leech to release itself voluntarily. Once the leech has detached, gently squeeze the wound to expel any accumulated blood, then thoroughly cleanse the wound with clean water. Next, disinfect the wound using povidone-iodine solution. If the wound is severe, it is advisable to seek medical attention at a hospital and have the wound dressed under a physician’s guidance.
