How to Sleep with Sacroiliitis
Disease description:
I visited the hospital for an examination and was diagnosed with sacroiliac joint arthritis. I would like to learn about sleeping posture recommendations—what sleeping positions are best for sacroiliac joint arthritis?
For such patients, a firm mattress is recommended for sleeping, as adequate bed support can help alleviate pain. Pillows should not be too high, as excessive elevation may cause abnormal spinal curvature, which is detrimental to disease recovery. The optimal sleeping position is supine (lying on the back). In this position, pressure on the sacroiliac joint is relatively minimal, allowing the joint to relax and thereby reducing stress on the sacroiliac joint and alleviating symptoms of sacroiliac joint inflammation.
