How long after surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia does bleeding stop?
Disease description:
I am 49 years old this year and have been diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia. I'm scheduled to undergo surgery in a few days, and I would like to know how long after the surgery bleeding will stop.
Bleeding typically stops within three to five days after surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The duration of postoperative bleeding mainly depends on the surgical method used. Currently, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is commonly performed, and bleeding usually gradually subsides and ceases within about 3 to 5 days after surgery. If there is significant postoperative bleeding, bladder irrigation may be required to prevent inflammation, clot formation, and blockage of the urethra or catheter. In addition, patients should moderately increase their nutritional intake after surgery and avoid不良 habits such as fatigue and staying up late.
