Iron and zinc are both essential electrolytes required by the human body. Iron can be supplemented by consuming foods rich in this mineral, such as pork, beef, pork kidneys, and black fungus. However, dietary intake alone may not be sufficient; iron supplements like ferrous sulfate tablets or ferrous succinate tablets can also be taken. Iron supplements may irritate the digestive tract, and in severe cases, intravenous iron infusion may be necessary. Zinc can also be supplemented through diet. Seafood rich in zinc includes fish, shrimp, and oysters. Other zinc-rich foods include walnuts and egg yolks. Zinc gluconate oral solution is the most commonly used zinc supplement and is safe for infants and young children to take orally.
