Can iron deficiency anemia cause high blood pressure?
Disease description:
I previously had iron deficiency anemia. Yesterday, I measured my blood pressure and found it very high. I would like to ask, can iron deficiency anemia cause high blood pressure?
People with iron deficiency anemia may have high blood pressure, but anemia and hypertension are not directly related—they are entirely different conditions. Therefore, the likelihood of developing hypertension in individuals with anemia is similar to that in the general population. Blood pressure may be high in patients with iron deficiency anemia, but this is not caused by the anemia itself; rather, it is due to pre-existing hypertension in the patient. Since the mechanisms of the two conditions are completely different and there is no direct connection between them, individuals with anemia can still develop hypertension.
