Anal itching that feels like there are worms may be related to perianal eczema or hemorrhoids. Metabolic disturbances in the body or frequent consumption of foods such as fish and shrimp can easily trigger perianal eczema, leading to itching around the anus, and possibly causing symptoms such as localized skin thickening and skin lesions. When patients have hemorrhoids, they may not only experience anal itching that feels like worms, but also develop rectal bleeding.
