Disease description:

My grandfather suddenly suffered from a brain hemorrhage and is currently being treated in the hospital. He remains unconscious. Could you please tell me how many days do patients usually remain unconscious after a brain hemorrhage before regaining consciousness?

Dr. Yang Jun
The number of days a patient remains unconscious after intracerebral hemorrhage varies and depends on the amount of bleeding, the location of the hemorrhage, as well as the patient's physical condition and age. If the bleeding volume is small, the patient usually regains consciousness within about three days. However, if the bleeding is extensive or occurs in the thalamus, the coma may last much longer, and in some cases, the patient may never regain consciousness.
