Symptoms of sciatic nerve compression due to tumor

Disease description:

Recently during a health checkup, I found a tumor in my body. Since it was small, I didn't receive any treatment. Lately, I've been experiencing persistent lower back and waist pain, and I'm worried that the tumor might be pressing on the sciatic nerve. Could you please tell me what symptoms occur when a tumor compresses the sciatic nerve?

Dr. Peng Xiaodong
When a tumor compresses the sciatic nerve, it can cause numbness in both lower limbs, as well as back pain or lower back pain. In severe cases, it may lead to symptoms such as paraplegia and urinary or fecal incontinence. Compression of the sciatic nerve by a tumor is primarily caused by primary tumors within the spinal canal that result in destruction of the vertebral bone and space-occupying lesions within the spinal canal, which further compress the sciatic nerve.
