Since the uterus has been removed, if the ovarian chocolate cyst was caused by endometriosis implanting in the ovary, the patient may still experience cyclical lower abdominal pain. If the ovarian chocolate cyst is larger than 5 centimeters, laparoscopic or open abdominal surgery is recommended. As these women no longer have a uterus, there is no need to preserve the ovaries during surgery.
