Can people with gallstones eat grapes?
Disease description:
I have gallstones, but I really enjoy eating grapes. So I'd like to ask: can people with gallstones eat grapes?
Patients with gallstones should not eat grapes. Grapes contain a large amount of fructose, which can stimulate bile secretion. Since the gallbladder and bile ducts of patients with gallstones are already damaged, the fructose in grapes may worsen their symptoms. Moreover, grapes contain substantial acidity, which could irritate the bile ducts and gallbladder of gallstone patients, thereby exacerbating their condition. Therefore, patients with gallstones should avoid eating grapes to prevent worsening of their illness.
