How to determine if shingles has healed
Disease description:
I had shingles recently and I'm not sure if it's fully healed. How can I tell if shingles has completely resolved?
Symptoms indicating improvement in shingles typically include gradual drying and crusting over of the rash, disappearance of scabs, absence of new skin lesions, and gradually reduced pain. During recovery from shingles, the blisters will progressively shrink, form scabs, and eventually fade away. Patients can monitor their skin to check whether the rash is subsiding, whether any new lesions appear, or whether existing rashes are enlarging. They should also observe whether fever symptoms have significantly improved. By evaluating these signs, patients can determine if the shingles is resolving; if these symptoms disappear, it generally means the shingles has healed.
