Can pelvic inflammatory disease cause nausea?
Disease description:
My colleague has been suffering from pelvic inflammatory disease, and today suddenly developed nausea. Can pelvic inflammatory disease cause nausea?
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) typically does not present with nausea or vomiting. Its common symptoms include lower abdominal pain, abnormal vaginal discharge, fever, menstrual changes, and possible pressure-related symptoms. Lower abdominal pain is the most prominent symptom of PID, usually persistent and often worsening with physical activity or sexual intercourse. Vaginal discharge may increase in amount and be accompanied by an unpleasant odor. In severe cases, patients may develop systemic symptoms such as chills and high fever. Nausea and vomiting are not typical manifestations of PID; in most cases, these symptoms are likely caused by other factors, such as gastrointestinal dysfunction. If nausea or vomiting occurs, other potential underlying causes should be considered.
