What are the early signs of rectal prolapse?
Disease description:
I've been suffering from severe constipation recently, and sometimes my rectum even protrudes slightly. I'm worried about developing rectal prolapse and would like to know what early signs indicate rectal prolapse.
Precursors of rectal prolapse mainly include symptoms such as prolapse of the rectum, difficulty in defecation, anal pain and itching, and discharge of mucus. Rectal prolapse may result from prolonged constipation or diarrhea, which increase intra-abdominal pressure and lead to weakness in the pelvic floor muscles and fascia. Difficulty in defecation may occur when hemorrhoidal tissues or prolapsed rectal mucosa reduce the anal canal diameter, thereby obstructing stool passage. Anal pain is often caused by compression of surrounding nerves due to descending rectum, while anal itching may be related to local skin irritation from inflammatory factors. The discharge of mucus occurs when the rectal mucosa produces excess secretions in response to irritation, which are expelled along with the protruding rectum. If these symptoms persist or worsen, prompt medical evaluation and treatment are recommended.
