Why is the anus always moist?

Anal moisture may have various causes. On one hand, it could be physiological—resulting from poor ventilation in the anal area, excessive local sweating, or tight clothing. On the other hand, certain medical conditions may also lead to anal dampness, such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, and perianal abscesses. These anorectal disorders may impair proper closure of the anus, allowing intestinal fluids to leak out and cause moisture. Skin conditions like anal eczema and pruritus ani can also contribute to anal wetness. To alleviate this symptom, it is recommended to keep the anal area clean and dry, wear loose and comfortable clothing, and avoid prolonged sitting. If symptoms persist or are accompanied by other discomforts, prompt medical evaluation is advised to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.
