Can chronic erosive gastritis cause abdominal pain and diarrhea?
Disease description:
I have been experiencing frequent abdominal pain and diarrhea recently. My neighbor mentioned that it might be caused by chronic erosive gastritis. Can chronic erosive gastritis lead to symptoms such as abdominal pain and diarrhea?
Chronic erosive gastritis typically presents with congestion, edema, and erosion of the gastric mucosa. Its typical symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating, acid reflux, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and indigestion. However, chronic erosive gastritis generally does not directly cause diarrhea. Diarrhea may be related to other causes, such as improper diet or acute gastroenteritis caused by consumption of contaminated food. In rare cases, if a patient with chronic erosive gastritis also experiences diarrhea, further examination may be needed to determine whether there are other gastrointestinal problems or complications. Chronic erosive gastritis mainly affects gastric function, while diarrhea may be related to other factors.
