What kind of pillow is good for cervical spondylosis?
Disease description:
Recently, my cervical spine has been uncomfortable, and my neck has been painful. I wonder if it might be related to the pillow I use for sleeping. I would like to ask what type of pillow is recommended for cervical spondylosis?
Cervical spondylosis patients should comprehensively consider factors such as softness, height, curvature, and material when selecting a pillow, in order to reduce pressure on the cervical spine and alleviate symptoms.
1. Softness: Choose a pillow with moderate firmness that provides adequate support to the cervical spine when the head is resting on it.
2. Height: It is recommended to use a pillow approximately 8–10 cm high, roughly equivalent to the height of a clenched fist. For those who usually sleep on their back, an 8 cm pillow is suitable; for side sleepers, a 10 cm pillow is recommended.
3. Curvature: A pillow that is lower in the center and higher on both sides is preferred, as it helps restore the natural curve of the cervical spine and provides support and massage effects.
4. Material: Consider using medicinal pillows (e.g., buckwheat, cassia seeds) or therapeutic pillows (e.g., cervical pillows with supportive features or heating function). However, selection should be based on individual conditions and used under a doctor's guidance.
