Disease description:

My menstrual cycle has been extremely irregular recently, and despite actively trying to conceive, I haven’t become pregnant. Hospital examinations revealed multiple Nabothian cysts on my cervix; however, my doctor indicated that this condition does not require treatment. I would like to know: can multiple Nabothian cysts undergo malignant transformation?

Hello, multiple Nabothian cysts of the cervix commonly occur with advancing age and represent a pathological manifestation of chronic cervicitis. These cysts are typically small and scattered, though they may also appear as isolated lesions anywhere on the cervix. Importantly, chronic cervicitis is closely associated with cervical cancer; under prolonged inflammatory stimulation, a small proportion of cases may undergo malignant transformation. Therefore, it is essential to promptly visit a hospital for a Pap smear (cervical cytology) examination. The prognosis for multiple cervical cysts is generally favorable. In daily life, maintain good personal hygiene and ensure timely evaluation to rule out cervical malignancy. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you good health and happiness!
