What causes blood blisters on the oral mucosa?
Disease description:
Recently, my mouth has been very painful. When looking in the mirror, I noticed a blood blister on the oral mucosa. What causes blood blisters to form on oral mucosa?

There are several causes for the formation of blood blisters on the oral mucosa, mainly including the following:
1. Traumatic factors: This is the most common cause, such as consuming food that is too hot or too hard, or accidentally biting the mucosa during chewing, leading to rupture of capillaries beneath the oral mucosa and the formation of a blood blister as blood accumulates under the mucosal surface.
2. Vitamin deficiency: A lack of vitamins in the body can lead to oral ulcers, which may progress into blood blisters and even extensive ulceration.
3. Oral vascular malformations: Conditions such as hemangiomas can lead to blood blisters when blood vessels rupture or when the area of vascular malformation is large.
4. Irritation from oral abnormalities: Sharp tooth edges or broken, worn teeth can continuously irritate oral mucosal tissue, potentially causing submucosal blood vessels to rupture and bleed, resulting in a blood blister.
When this symptom occurs, timely medical consultation is recommended to determine the underlying cause and initiate appropriate, targeted treatment.
