Is stomach bloating a symptom of gastric ulcer?
Disease description:
Recently, my stomach has been very uncomfortable, with symptoms of bloating. I would like to know whether stomach bloating is a symptom of stomach ulcers.
Stomach bloating is not necessarily a specific symptom of gastric ulcer, although it may present as one of the manifestations of gastric ulcer. Bloating can be caused by various factors, including but not limited to chronic gastritis, chronic cholecystitis, and functional dyspepsia. The symptoms of gastric ulcers are more diverse and include upper abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, acid reflux, heartburn, loss of appetite, and weight loss. Abdominal bloating may be one of the initial symptoms of gastric ulcer, but its severity and frequency differ from bloating caused by other etiologies. Therefore, relying solely on the symptom of bloating is insufficient for an accurate diagnosis of gastric ulcer; a combination of other symptoms and medical examinations is required for a definitive diagnosis.
