What is xerotic eczema?
Disease description:
Recently, my skin has been very dry, accompanied by symptoms of peeling and itching. I suspect it might be caused by asteatotic eczema. What is asteatotic eczema?

Xerosis eczema, also known as dry eczema or asteatotic eczema, is a type of eczema characterized clinically by dry, cracked skin. The primary causes include insufficient sebum production from sebaceous glands, inadequate skin hydration, and potentially不良护肤习惯 (poor skincare habits), 干燥的环境气候 (dry environmental climate), and irritation from physical or chemical factors. Affected skin in patients often appears dry, cracked, pale red in color, with attached scales, accompanied by itching. In severe cases, inflammatory erythema and epidermal desquamation may occur. Additionally, genetic factors, decreased skin hydration associated with aging, dry weather, occupational factors, and others may also play a role in the development of xerosis eczema. Treatment typically involves a comprehensive approach including topical medications, oral medications, and enhanced skincare to alleviate symptoms and improve the patient's quality of life.
