How to administer the hepatitis B vaccine
Children need to receive the hepatitis B vaccine. I would like to ask the doctor, how is the hepatitis B vaccine administered?
Hepatitis B vaccine is an effective measure to prevent hepatitis B infection, and the administration should be differentiated based on the recipient:
1. For adults, a hepatitis B surface antigen and antibody test should be conducted first. If the hepatitis B surface antibody is negative, three doses of hepatitis B vaccine should be administered according to a 0-, 1-, and 6-month schedule (usually at a dose of 10μg). If the hepatitis B surface antibody is weakly positive (<100mIU/ml), a single booster dose of hepatitis B vaccine is recommended (20μg may be considered).
2. For newborns, three doses of hepatitis B vaccine are generally administered at 24 hours after birth, one month, and six months of age. If the mother is hepatitis B surface antigen positive, the newborn should also receive hepatitis B immune globulin at birth.
Please ensure to visit a qualified hospital or vaccination clinic for hepatitis B vaccination, and follow medical guidance.
