How many days does it take to recover from shingles (herpes zoster) treatment?
Disease description:
Recently, bumps appeared on my skin, and the doctor diagnosed it as herpes zoster. How many days does it take to treat herpes zoster?

The treatment duration for herpes zoster varies from individual to individual and there is no fixed number of days for recovery. Generally, most patients require approximately 2–3 weeks to recover after receiving timely and effective treatment. This timeframe is based on the natural course of herpes zoster and the typical duration of antiviral therapy. The specific treatment duration may also be influenced by multiple factors, including the patient's physical condition, timing of treatment initiation, disease severity, and treatment adherence.
For younger patients with better physical condition, if active treatment is initiated early in the disease course, the recovery time may be relatively shorter, potentially achieving full recovery within one to two weeks. Conversely, for elderly patients, those with poorer physical condition, or those with more severe disease, the treatment duration may be prolonged to three or four weeks or even longer. If patients demonstrate poor adherence during treatment and fail to follow medical advice regarding proper treatment protocols, this may also lead to an extended illness duration.
