What Causes Folliculitis on the Scalp?
Disease description:
I recently developed folliculitis on my scalp, which has been very uncomfortable. It itches constantly, making me want to scratch. What causes folliculitis on the scalp?

The causes of folliculitis on the scalp are varied and mainly include:
1. Bacterial infection: The most common cause is infection of the hair follicle base by Staphylococcus aureus, usually associated with excessive sebum secretion, improper cleansing, or bacterial invasion following skin damage.
2. Decreased immunity: When the body's immunity is reduced, its resistance to bacteria weakens, making folliculitis more likely to occur. Long-term use of certain medications or having diseases such as diabetes or HIV/AIDS can affect immunity.
3. Trauma factors: Traumatic procedures such as scratching the scalp or hair transplant surgery may damage the skin barrier, allowing easier bacterial invasion into the hair follicles and causing inflammation.
4. Chemical irritation: Long-term use of low-quality shampoos, hair dyes, and other chemical products can irritate the scalp, damage the skin, and increase the likelihood of developing folliculitis.
5. Lifestyle habits: Prolonged hat-wearing that causes the scalp to remain moist and poorly ventilated can easily promote bacterial growth and lead to folliculitis.
