What causes dark circles under a child's eyes?
Recently, I noticed dark circles under my niece's eyes and would like to know what causes dark eye circles in children?
There may be multiple causes for dark circles in children, commonly including:
1. Genetic factors: If family members have dark circles, they may be passed on to the next generation.
2. Allergic rhinitis: Inflammation in the nose can cause blood vessels around the eyes to dilate, resulting in dark circles.
3. Lack of sleep: Prolonged late nights or poor sleep quality can lead to insufficient oxygen supply to tissues, causing blood to accumulate around the eyes and form dark circles.
4. Dehydration: Insufficient water intake can make the skin appear duller, intensifying the appearance of dark circles.
5. Malnutrition: Deficiencies in nutrients such as iron and vitamin C may cause pale skin, making dark circles more noticeable.
6. Skin characteristics: Children have a thinner epidermis and a rich network of subcutaneous blood vessels with ample blood flow, which may create dark shadows resembling dark circles.
