The physical exam said my vision is 1.2. People around me don't seem to have such high vision. Is this considered abnormal? Could it be a measurement error, or is there another explanation?

In general, a visual acuity of 1.2 is considered normal and slightly higher than the average visual acuity level of typical adults.

A normal adult's unaided visual acuity should be above 1.0. A visual acuity of 1.2 means the examinee can stand 5 meters away from the visual acuity chart and clearly see and accurately identify all the symbols and their orientation in the 1.2 row of the chart with the naked eye.

However, visual acuity is only one aspect of visual health and mainly reflects the clarity of central vision, or the eye's ability to distinguish fine details. Visual acuity test results can be influenced by multiple factors, including age, genetics, environment, and lifestyle habits. For example, children's and adolescents' visual acuity may temporarily fall below 1.0 during growth and development stages but may reach or even exceed 1.0 as they mature. In adults, good lifestyle habits and regular eye examinations can help maintain or improve visual acuity.

It is recommended to undergo regular eye examinations to detect and address any potential vision or eye health issues at an early stage.
