Disease description:

I recently underwent breast augmentation with implants, but now my breasts feel unusually firm and unnatural. I’d like to try massage to help alleviate this and promote recovery, but I’m unsure how to proceed. Could you please advise on the proper massage techniques following breast implant surgery?

Hello, if you undergo breast augmentation with implants, postoperative massage is essential for recovery. Typically, massage should begin 4–5 days after surgery; at the latest, it should start within one week to prevent adhesion or contraction of the surgically created pocket. The standard massage technique is as follows: Place your index finger on the nipple and apply direct inward pressure until your palm lies flat against the chest wall, feeling the implant glide upward. Then rotate your palm to shift the implant toward the inner aspect of the breast. Repeat this motion approximately twice daily for about 20 minutes each session. Once the augmented appearance looks natural and stable, massage may be discontinued. I hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health!
