First, the underlying cause of knee joint pain must be clearly identified, followed by targeted pharmacological treatment based on the etiology. If the pain is due to osteoarthritis, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and chondroprotective agents may be prescribed. In addition to medication, physical therapies such as acupuncture, massage, and shortwave diathermy can be employed as adjunctive treatments. During the acute phase, patients should be advised to minimize movement of the affected joint and ensure adequate rest. It is also essential to maintain warmth and avoid exposure to cold.
