Mild urethral itching requires improved hygiene—wash the area with warm water or a diluted potassium permanganate solution, and change and wash undergarments frequently. If itching is severe, topical application of Bactroban ointment may help alleviate symptoms. For urethritis caused by bacterial infection, appropriate antibiotics—selected based on sensitivity testing—are required.
