Is it normal for semen to appear yellow?
Disease description:
My husband’s semen has recently appeared yellow. Is yellow semen normal?
The yellowish discoloration of semen can be either physiological or pathological. Normally, semen appears milky white, grayish white, light yellow, or dark yellow, and the coagulated semen typically liquefies spontaneously within 10–20 minutes into a translucent, cloudy, thin, viscous fluid. If a man’s semen remains persistently yellow, it may adversely affect fertility; therefore, men should take this symptom seriously. If the yellowish discoloration is caused by an underlying disease, prompt medical treatment is essential.
