What is nongonococcal urethritis?
Disease description:
I’ve been diagnosed with nongonococcal urethritis. What exactly is nongonococcal urethritis?
Non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU) is typically caused by infections—such as *Chlamydia trachomatis* or *Mycoplasma* species—or, in postmenopausal women, by decreased estrogen levels. It may also be triggered by high-risk sexual activity. The primary symptoms of NGU include dysuria (painful urination) and increased urethral discharge.
