Introduction
Excess dampness in the body can cause lumps or bumps on the neck. “Excess dampness” refers to a pathological condition characterized by an overabundance of damp pathogenic factors within the body. This typically arises from impaired Spleen function—specifically, its inability to properly transform and transport body fluids—leading to the generation and accumulation of dampness internally. Such dampness obstructs the flow of Qi and Blood and impedes the smooth circulation of the meridians, thereby manifesting as lumps or nodules on the skin surface. Additional associated symptoms may include constipation or irregular bowel movements, sticky or greasy stools that adhere to the toilet bowl, thick and greasy tongue coating, heavy or sluggish limbs, and persistent fatigue.

“Excess dampness” refers to a pathological condition characterized by an overabundance of damp pathogenic factors within the body. This typically arises from impaired Spleen function—specifically, its inability to properly transform and transport body fluids—leading to the generation and accumulation of dampness internally. Such dampness obstructs the flow of Qi and blood through the meridians and collaterals, manifesting externally as lumps or nodules on the skin. Concurrent symptoms often include constipation or irregular bowel movements, sticky or greasy stools that adhere to the toilet bowl, thick and greasy tongue coating, heavy or sluggish limbs, and general fatigue.

Patients may manage this condition through daily lifestyle adjustments or pharmacological treatment. During treatment, it is essential to regulate one’s physiological state: avoid spicy, stimulating, and heat-inducing foods—including seafood and barbecued dishes—and adopt a light, balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Additionally, patients should avoid staying up late, engage in moderate physical activity appropriate to their daily routine (e.g., regular movement throughout the day), and avoid prolonged sitting, which impairs circulation and contributes to constipation.
