What should women do if excessive dampness in the body causes itchy skin?
In women, skin itching caused by excessive internal dampness can be alleviated by adjusting one’s constitution through daily habits, dietary choices, and lifestyle modifications.
Clinical Manifestations: Excessive dampness may cause persistent drowsiness or fatigue, loss of appetite, pallor, loose or sticky stools (often adhering to the toilet bowl and difficult to flush away), nausea during toothbrushing, and a sensation of intense, flea-bite-like discomfort on the skin.
Daily Habits: Avoid excessive scratching, as it may worsen itching and damage the skin. Wear loose-fitting, cotton clothing to minimize skin friction and irritation. If itching becomes unbearable, rinsing the affected area with cool, clean water may provide temporary relief.
Dietary Recommendations: Consume foods known for their dampness-resolving properties, such as oats, goji berries, buckwheat, purslane, Chinese yam, hyacinth bean, coix seed (yi yi ren), pumpkin seeds, foxnut (qian shi), and red beans. Drink plenty of warm water and consume ample fresh vegetables and fruits. Minimize or avoid cold, raw, greasy, and spicy foods.
Lifestyle Modifications: Engage in regular outdoor physical activity, maintain an optimistic mood, ensure adequate rest, and prioritize high-quality sleep.
