Introduction
Coronary artery disease (CAD) primarily causes symptoms such as chest tightness and pain. These symptoms are typically exacerbated by physical exertion and emotional stress. Additionally, patients may experience shortness of breath and a weak pulse. Conservative treatment for CAD commonly includes nitrates and antithrombotic medications; when necessary, interventional or surgical therapies may be undertaken. One of the hallmark symptoms of CAD is chest discomfort.

Today, due to frequent late-night work and study, people are experiencing significant adverse effects on their health—including reduced immunity and disrupted endocrine function. Cardiovascular issues, particularly coronary heart disease (CHD), are among the more common consequences. So, what are the symptoms and treatment options for CHD?

Symptoms and Treatment of Coronary Heart Disease

CHD primarily causes discomfort such as chest tightness and pain, which typically worsen with physical exertion or emotional stress. Patients may also experience shortness of breath and a weak pulse. Conservative management usually involves nitrates and anti-thrombotic medications; when necessary, interventional procedures or surgery may be required. One hallmark symptom of CHD is chest discomfort—patients often describe sensations of tightness or burning pain in the chest, lasting approximately five minutes, though severe episodes may persist up to 15 minutes.

CHD most commonly occurs in individuals aged 40 years and older, and its incidence increases with age. While men are more frequently affected, women’s risk rises significantly after menopause. Major risk factors for CHD include smoking—nicotine in tobacco causes vasoconstriction, contributing directly to coronary artery disease. Patients should regularly monitor their blood pressure and lipid levels and maintain a healthy weight, as obesity can exacerbate the condition.

Patients are advised to avoid smoking and alcohol consumption, consume nutrient-rich foods, avoid overeating, and take precautions against cold exposure by staying warm. We hope this information proves helpful.
