If mumps is complicated by orchitis, azoospermia may develop—primarily because the mumps virus invades testicular tissue and the spermatogenic epithelium within it. Consequently, azoospermia may ensue, compromising future fertility. Therefore, individuals with mumps should seek prompt medical evaluation to minimize the risk of complications.
