Why do I get headaches after finishing work?
Headache after completing physical work may be caused by factors such as excessive fatigue, hypertension, or migraine.
1. Excessive Fatigue
When the body is overly fatigued, cerebral blood supply may become insufficient, leading to headache after physical exertion. This headache typically subsides following adequate rest.
2. Hypertension
If a patient’s blood pressure is poorly controlled and they engage in strenuous physical labor, blood pressure may rise. Elevated blood pressure can cause cerebral vasodilation and increased intracranial volume, resulting in headache. It is recommended to promptly measure blood pressure and rest adequately; if necessary, antihypertensive medications—such as perindopril or benazepril—may be taken orally to help manage symptoms.
3. Migraine
Excessive physical fatigue may trigger an acute migraine attack, thereby causing headache after physical work. Symptoms can often be alleviated by increasing fluid intake and ensuring sufficient rest.
There are numerous potential causes of post-work headache. If headache persists for an extended period without improvement, prompt medical evaluation at a hospital is advised to determine the underlying cause and initiate appropriate treatment.
