Introduction
Leuprolide is an antitumor agent. Common adverse reactions to this drug include edema, chills, and weight gain. If a patient experiences the adverse reaction of weight gain, they may become overweight. Since leuprolide may cause one or multiple drug-related adverse reactions in patients, if weight gain is not among the experienced adverse reactions, the patient may not become overweight.
Leuprolide may cause weight gain, but it may not necessarily lead to weight gain.
1. May cause weight gain
The main component of leuprolide is leuprolide acetate, which belongs to anti-tumor drugs and can be used for treating certain tumors such as breast cancer in premenopausal women and prostate cancer in men. Common adverse reactions include edema, chills, and weight gain. If a patient experiences weight gain as an adverse reaction, they may become overweight.
2. May not cause weight gain
Since leuprolide may cause one or more drug-related adverse reactions, if weight gain does not occur among the experienced side effects, the patient may not become overweight.
Leuprolide is contraindicated for individuals who are allergic to this drug, pregnant women, and patients with abnormal vaginal bleeding. Athletes should use it with caution. Additionally, this medication should be taken strictly according to medical instructions. Concomitant use with sex hormone compounds, estriol derivatives, or mixtures of sex hormones should be avoided, as drug interactions may occur, potentially affecting therapeutic efficacy or causing severe adverse reactions.
