Introduction
For patients with prominent systemic symptoms, treatment typically involves administering an adequate dose of sensitive antibiotics for a sufficient duration. Local medications generally include agents that improve nasal airflow, such as ephedrine nasal drops; currently, oxymetazoline nasal spray is commonly used in clinical practice. Corticosteroid nasal sprays are also effective, with commonly used options being Fluticasone (Flixonase) and Mometasone (Nasonex).

Sinusitis, a common inflammatory condition of the nasal cavity, often causes symptoms such as nasal congestion and breathing difficulties, significantly affecting patients' daily lives. It is important to actively adopt effective treatment measures. So, how is sinusitis treated?

How Is Sinusitis Treated?

For patients with obvious systemic symptoms, treatment typically involves a full course of sensitive antibiotics administered in sufficient dosage. Local medications generally include drugs that improve nasal airflow, such as ephedrine nasal drops. Currently, oxymetazoline nasal spray is commonly used in clinical practice. Corticosteroid nasal sprays are also effective; commonly used ones include Fluticasone (Fukeshuliang) and Mometasone (Neishuna). Additionally, mucolytic agents may be used to help expel purulent secretions—commonly prescribed ones include standardized myrtol (Gelomyrtol) and bromhexine (Cheno).

Physical therapies include maxillary sinus irrigation. Patients can rinse their nasal cavities at home using normal saline or seawater-based solutions. For chronic sinusitis patients who do not respond well to medication, surgical intervention may be considered. Surgical treatments aim to correct anatomical abnormalities in the nasal cavity and may include septoplasty (correction of deviated nasal septum), lateral displacement of the inferior turbinate, plasma ablation of the inferior turbinate, maxillary sinusotomy, frontal sinusotomy, and sphenoid sinusotomy.

The above medications are for reference only. Specific drug usage should be conducted under the guidance of a physician. It is also recommended to seek timely medical evaluation and appropriate management from a healthcare professional once symptoms appear. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you good health and a happy life!
