Introduction
Jaundice in premature infants usually resolves within about 4 weeks. After birth, premature infants may develop elevated bilirubin levels due to their relatively weak metabolic capacity, leading to jaundice. If the increase in bilirubin is not particularly severe, it is generally considered physiological jaundice, which typically resolves within approximately 4 weeks.

After birth, premature infants may develop elevated bilirubin levels due to their relatively weak metabolic capacity, leading to jaundice. If the increase in bilirubin is not severe, it is likely physiological jaundice, which generally resolves within approximately four weeks. However, if bilirubin levels are significantly elevated, this may indicate pathological jaundice, requiring prompt medical treatment such as medication or phototherapy (blue light irradiation). Commonly used medications include Yinzhihuang oral liquid and Xiaoyan Lidan tablets. With appropriate medical treatment, bilirubin levels typically return to normal within four weeks.

In general, newborns commonly develop jaundice around 3–5 days after birth, with peak levels occurring between days 5–7, followed by gradual resolution by days 7–9. For premature infants with jaundice, exposure to sunlight may also help improve symptoms.
