Introduction
Moderate to severe fatty liver can generally benefit from taking hepatoprotective tablets, but relying solely on these tablets is not sufficient for effective treatment. Additional therapeutic approaches are also required. Hepatoprotective tablets contain traditional Chinese herbal ingredients such as Yinchen (Artemisia scoparia), Chaihu (Bupleurum), Schisandra, and Banlangen (Isatis root), which help regulate liver function and promote the flow of qi. These components can also help reduce blood levels of transaminase enzymes.

Generally, liver-protecting tablets can be effective for severe fatty liver; however, relying solely on these tablets is not sufficient to treat severe fatty liver. Additional treatments should also be combined.

Liver-protecting tablets contain traditional Chinese herbal ingredients such as Yinchen (Artemisia scoparia), Chaihu (Bupleurum), Schisandra chinensis, and Isatis root, which help regulate liver function and promote the flow of qi. These components can reduce blood levels of transaminase enzymes and are clinically used to treat chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and similar conditions. Therefore, taking liver-protecting tablets as prescribed during severe fatty liver can help protect the liver. However, because severe fatty liver is a serious condition, other treatments are also necessary—such as taking medications like polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules or ursodeoxycholic acid capsules under medical guidance—to improve the condition.

In addition to medication taken as directed by a physician, individuals with severe fatty liver should also appropriately control their diet, avoiding excessively greasy foods or those high in cholesterol. If overweight or obese, engaging actively in physical exercise to manage body weight is recommended, as this can help alleviate fatty liver disease.
