How to relieve sharp ear pain caused by blowing the nose too hard
Ear pain caused by blowing the nose too hard is most likely due to a bacterial infection in the upper respiratory tract. Upper respiratory infections can easily spread to the Eustachian tube, causing Eustachian tube inflammation and resulting in ear pain. This discomfort can be relieved by rinsing the nose with saline solution. Follow these steps:
1. Boil purified water and let it cool to about 37°C.
2. Dissolve 9 grams of non-iodized salt into the warm water to prepare a saline solution.
3. Lean forward about 30 degrees with your head slightly lowered and mouth open.
4. Insert the nasal irrigator into one nostril and gently squeeze the bottle so that a small amount of saline flows into that nostril and exits through the other nostril or mouth.
5. After rinsing both nostrils, gently blow out nasal secretions.
If ear pain persists after treatment, seek medical attention promptly to avoid delaying diagnosis and treatment. During recovery, maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the nasal area, and be gentle when blowing your nose.
