Introduction
Intravenous ribavirin has relatively significant side effects, which not only cause various physical discomforts but may also lead to hemolytic anemia. Common side effects include fatigue, headache, insomnia, decreased appetite, and mild diarrhea; these symptoms usually gradually disappear after discontinuation of the drug. Hemolytic anemia may occur, with reduced hemoglobin levels appearing 1–2 weeks after administration. Approximately 10% of patients may experience cardiopulmonary side effects.

Administering Ribavirin via intravenous infusion has relatively significant side effects. It may not only cause various physical discomforts such as nausea, vomiting, headache, and fatigue, but also lead to hemolytic anemia.

Common side effects include fatigue, headache, insomnia, decreased appetite, and mild diarrhea; these symptoms usually resolve gradually after discontinuation of the drug. Hemolytic anemia may occur, with reduced hemoglobin levels appearing 1–2 weeks after taking the medication. Approximately 10% of patients may experience cardiopulmonary side effects. Hemoglobin levels should be monitored frequently before and during treatment. The drug is contraindicated in patients with thalassemia or sickle cell anemia. Patients with pancreatitis or a history of pancreatic inflammation should avoid taking this medication. Long-term use can lead to leukopenia, anemia, and elevated serum transaminase and bilirubin levels. Children may experience allergic reactions following intramuscular or intravenous injection, including red papules, urticaria, bronchial asthma, and infusion-related reactions.

Therefore, this medication must be used cautiously under the guidance of a physician.
