Introduction
Leukemia refers to a malignant tumor of the hematopoietic system. Some types can be cured, while others cannot. Low-risk acute myeloid leukemia can be cured with chemotherapy. Leukemias with specific genetic abnormalities can be cured using oral targeted drugs. Acute promyelocytic leukemia is curable. Relapsed or refractory cases require allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, but there remains a risk of further relapse, making cure impossible.

Leukemia, generally referred to as white blood cancer, is a malignant tumor of the hematopoietic system that primarily affects the blood. As the disease progresses, it may involve bones, lungs, or other organs. Some patients can be cured, while others cannot.

1. Curable cases

Certain low-risk types of acute myeloid leukemia can be cured through chemotherapy. Some leukemia patients with specific genetic abnormalities can achieve cure by taking targeted drugs under medical supervision. Patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia can also be cured. However, there remains a possibility of relapse even after successful treatment.

2. Incurable cases

For leukemia that has relapsed multiple times or is difficult to treat, if the condition cannot be controlled by targeted drugs or chemotherapy, allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation may be required under medical guidance. This treatment helps control further disease progression and prolong survival. Nevertheless, some patients still face the risk of relapse after treatment, making complete cure unattainable.
