Introduction
If allergic rhinitis is not treated promptly in the early stages, it may lead to impaired drainage of the nasal cavity and sinuses, resulting in recurrent symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and sneezing. This reduces the normal physiological function of the mucosa. As the condition gradually progresses, allergic rhinitis can develop into nasal polyps, polyp edema, and nasal mucosal swelling, which may easily trigger the onset of chronic rhinitis.

Allergic rhinitis may develop into chronic rhinitis.

If allergic rhinitis is not treated promptly during its early stages, it may lead to impaired drainage of the nasal cavity and sinuses, resulting in recurrent symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and sneezing. These symptoms can irritate the nasal mucosa and keep the mucosal tissue in a state of hyperreactivity, causing repeated nasal mucosal congestion and swelling. This reduces the normal physiological function of the mucosa. As the condition progresses, complications such as nasal polyps, polyp edema, and nasal mucosal swelling may develop, increasing the risk of chronic rhinitis.

Therefore, patients with allergic rhinitis should actively cooperate with their doctors during the early stage of the disease by using intranasal corticosteroid sprays—such as budesonide or triamcinolone nasal sprays—in combination with antihistamine medications like loratadine tablets or cetirizine tablets. Additionally, patients should undergo allergen testing at a medical facility. Once specific allergens are identified, avoiding exposure to them is essential to prevent progression to chronic rhinitis.
