Introduction
Antiallergic medications include: 1. Antihistamines, such as cetirizine, ebastine, and loratadine; 2. Systemic glucocorticoids—often the first-line drug class in severe allergic reactions, particularly anaphylactic shock; 3. Topical glucocorticoids, such as mometasone furoate (Elocon®) and halometasone. Medication selection should ideally be made under the guidance of a physician.

Commonly referred to as “anti-allergy medications,” these drugs fall into several major categories. The first category comprises antihistamines—drugs that antagonize the physiological effects of histamine. Examples include cetirizine, ebastine, and loratadine. These are primarily used to alleviate symptoms dominated by wheals (hives), such as those seen in urticaria, as well as allergic rhinitis.

The second major category consists of systemic glucocorticoids—often the first-line treatment for severe allergic reactions, particularly anaphylactic shock.

The third category includes topical glucocorticoids, such as mometasone furoate (Elocon®) and halometasone. These play a crucial role in treating allergic dermatitis and other inflammatory skin conditions when applied topically.

When selecting anti-allergy medications, it is strongly recommended to consult a qualified physician at a reputable hospital for proper diagnosis and guidance before initiating treatment.
