How to manage diet with diabetes
There are many people living with diabetes, a group of metabolic disorders characterized by high blood sugar levels. So, how should individuals with diabetes manage their diet?
How Should Diabetics Eat?
The general principle for diabetic patients' diet is portion control. If meals are properly portioned, blood glucose levels in diabetic patients will remain relatively stable. Portion control means maintaining consistent meal times and controlling total food intake at each meal, minimizing fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Of course, within the framework of these general principles, it's acceptable to moderately increase consumption of low-glycemic foods while reducing intake of high-glycemic food types.

Secondly, diabetics should avoid foods with very high glycemic indices, such as candies, sugary drinks, cakes, and biscuits containing sucrose, glucose, or other sugars. Also unsuitable are fried foods, fatty meats (like pork belly, pig's head meat, ribs), nuts, and other foods high in fat. Additionally, refined starchy foods such as porridge, rice congee, corn mush, oatmeal, eight-treasure porridge, and crackers should be limited. These foods are quickly digested and absorbed in the stomach, causing rapid spikes in blood glucose. The pancreas cannot secrete enough insulin in time to regulate this sudden rise, resulting in prolonged high blood sugar levels.

Additionally, it is recommended that individuals seek timely medical examination upon noticing symptoms and receive appropriate treatment under a doctor’s guidance. We hope this response has been helpful to you. Wishing you good health and happiness!
